Russian scientists received awards of the Republic of India.
A gala event dedicated to the 100th anniversary of the birth of the outstanding Russian orientalist, Doctor of Historical Sciences, Professor Grigory Bondarevsky, was held at the Embassy of India on February 18, 2020. He became the first Russian citizen to be awarded the Padma Sri Order, one of the highest awards of India, awarded in recognition of his outstanding contribution to the fields of art, education, industry, literature, science, sports, medicine or social work. Bondarevsky closely communicated with Jawaharlal Nehru and Indira Gandhi.
Awarding the Bondarevsky medals for academic merit in the study of Russian-Indian relations was the culmination of the event. This year's award received:
- Aleksey Kupriyanov, Senior Researcher, Department of International Political Problems, IMEMO RAS; Alexei Zakharov, Researcher, Center for Indian Studies, Institute of Oriental Studies, RAS; Yana Sadovnikova, Anita Mujumdar (MGIMO), Junior Researcher, Center for Development and Modernization Problems, IMEMO RAS.
