Russian Ambassador declared India’s interest in closer cooperation with the CSTO

Denis Alipov was appointed the new Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Russian Federation to the Republic of India by the decree of the President of the Russian Federation Vladimir Putin from 12th of January, 2022. Previously he served as Deputy Director of the Second Asia Department of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation.

During the interview, Alipov noted that Russia and India are pursuing the same goals. Moscow is interested in the growth of Delhi’s influence as an independent center of power both in the Asia-Pacific region and in the world. According to Alipov, India is more actively interact with the Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO), develop trade relations with all republics of the region. In the ambassador`s view, the CSTO is the most successful platform for deepening cooperation. Moscow is interested in expanding interaction with India in Central Asia both as a part of the work in the SCO and as a part of the work in the CSTO.
