«India Day» festival

One of the most vivid holidays in India, a fascinating colors festival Holi concluded the largest ethnic event in Moscow — «India Day», held in the landscape park «Dream Island» from August 11 to 14.
During the four days Muscovites and guests of the capital were welcomed to enjoy a festive atmosphere, taste spicy Indian cuisine, purchase Indian goods, participate in spiritual practices, watch Bollywood films and concerts performed by Indians and Russians, and take part in a wedding ceremony conducted in accordance with Indian traditions.
Stunning in its beauty symbol of India, a reproduction of the Taj Mahal was the first sight to greet guests between the fountains of the park. Likewise, in the previous six years the entrance for visitors was free.
This year the holiday was dedicated to the 75th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Russia and India. The festival was opened by the Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador of the Republic of India to the Russian Federation H.E. Pavan Kapoor, initiating a ceremony of planting an apple tree orchard.
Representatives of the Moscow Government alongside the Business Council for Cooperation with India took part in the ceremony, marking it as a symbol of unity, friendship and growth. In total, there were 75 apple trees planted in honor of both, the 75th anniversary of India’s independence celebrated this year, and the anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Moscow and New Delhi.
