First Indians Receive Russian Sputnik V Vaccine

The first 17 residents of India received the Russian Sputnik V vaccine. "Seventeen healthy volunteers received the Sputnik V vaccine in the last three days in human trials. They will be monitored and then given another dose of vaccine 21 days later," said Dr. SK Rout, head of clinical research at Noble Hospital.
Prior to that, the Indian pharmaceutical company Dr. Reddy's Laboratories said it has begun Phase II and III trials of the Sputnik V vaccine in India, after obtaining the necessary approval from the Indian medical regulator. It was noted that this will be a multicenter randomized controlled trial, including the study of safety and immunogenicity.
India currently ranks second in the number of cases of COVID-19.
